Progression Training

Listen to a chord progression and label each chord by function (T/SD/D), Roman numeral, or chord symbol.

  • 15+ Progression Patterns: pop/jazz standards like I-V-vi-IV, ii-V-I, I-IV-V-I
  • 3 Answer Formats: Function (T/SD/D), Roman Numeral (I/IV/V…), Chord Symbol (C/F/G…)
  • 2 to 4 Chord Lengths: short for fundamentals, longer for real-music feel
  • Tonic Preview: hear I before the question to anchor the key (toggleable)
  • Pop / Jazz Categories: filter questions by genre
  • Pattern-Specific Stats: per-pattern accuracy at a glance

→ Progression guide: functional harmony concepts and step-by-step listening

→ Chord-Function Training: a 4-stage plan from resolution feel to 4-bar progressions

Rhythm Training

Measure your rhythm accuracy by tapping or clapping to click sounds.

  • Tap Mode: Measure by tapping the screen (for quiet environments)
  • Clap Mode: Detect claps via microphone (for full-body groove)
  • BPM Setting: Supports 40-200 BPM
  • Statistics: Quantifies average error, rushing/dragging tendencies
  • Calibration: Auto-compensates for device latency
⚠️ Bluetooth Earphones Not Recommended
Bluetooth earphones like AirPods introduce roughly 120–300 ms of latency depending on the codec (about 150–180 ms on AirPods Pro). The app's latency compensation and manual calibration can offset this to a degree, but wired earphones (5–10 ms latency) or the built-in speaker remain the most accurate.

→ Deep dive: Understanding rushing, dragging, and pocket

Sight Reading

Training to quickly identify note names from sheet music.

  • Treble/Bass Clef: Supports both clefs
  • Range Settings: Customize octave range
  • Accidentals: Choose whether to include sharps/flats
  • Response Time: Records sight-reading speed
  • All 12 Keys: filter by specific key
  • Ledger Line Toggle: include or exclude ledger-line area
  • Weak Point Focus & Error Analysis: drill notes you miss, surface the error patterns

→ Deep dive: the 5-landmark method and stepwise expansion

Rhythm Sight Reading

Read the rhythm notation on screen (the sequence of note durations) and tap it in time with the metronome — focusing on "when to play," not on pitch.

  • Curriculum / Custom: pick from a curated pattern list, or practice notation auto-generated fresh each time
  • 4 Difficulty Tiers: Beginner centers on quarter and half notes; Intermediate adds eighths and dotted notes; Advanced adds sixteenths and triplets; Expert brings syncopation and mixed rhythms
  • Custom Generation: choose the note values plus rests, eighth triplets, and 2 or 4 measures — fresh notation every session
  • 4 Strictness Levels: from Casual (±150 ms counts) to Pro (Perfect at ±25 ms); Standard grades Perfect at ±90 ms, Great at ±150 ms
  • Tempo & Repeats: 40–180 BPM, with repeats adjustable from 1 to 20
  • Timing Analysis: quantifies whether your taps tend to rush, drag, or land on time

→ Settings manual: what each option means and how to choose
